DR. KALINA CHRISTOFF’S

The Cognitive Neuroscience of Thought Laboratory

Research in the lab focuses on the neural and cognitive mechanisms of human thought, reasoning and problem-solving.

Our research encompasses both goal-directed processes and undirected and spontaneous forms of thought. Cognitive processes of particular interest include introspection, mind-wandering, creativity, dreaming, and meditation.

We are currently interested in investigating the above processes under a multitude of diagnoses including depression and attention deficit hyperactivity disorder (ADHD).

We examine these mental phenomena using a combination of functional neuroimaging (fMRI) and behavioural testing to relate the processes to their neural correlates via neuroscientific models grounded in the current understanding of the dynamic interactions within and between large-scale brain networks.
